SpotlightOur Spotlight for the month of December is Susan aka Doda
Check out her gallery for some fabulous layouts. DSP - How long have you been scrapping?
Member – I have to laugh at this one. I’ve been “intending” to paper scrap for about 10 years. This means I bought all the supplies and never scrapped! I joined DSP in May of 2006, and actually did my first digital layout in July of 2006 and never looked back! DSP - What do you like best about digital scrapbooking? Member – It’s just so much fun and I am only limited by my imagination! You can rearrange things if you change your mind (which I am known to do), add or take away items, make them larger, smaller, duplicate and then all of the editing options like blending, masks, etc! Then it all stores neatly in my hard drive, also in albums, on walls and in various projects. Plus, I can take it all with me on my laptop and scrap wherever I am. And it’s made me take more pictures, I always have a digital camera in my purse, and I take pictures anywhere and everywhere (just ask the family how annoying I can be) so I’m actually capturing more of our daily life now. DSP - What drew you to this site? Member – I travel for my job and I was looking for something I could take with me and participate in wherever I was. I was thrilled when I learned about digital scrapbooking, so I did a search and when I found DSP it had such useful and understandable tutorials that I spent lots of time here and every question I asked in the forums was answered right away! DSP is just packed full of great people, the designers, members and the whole DSP Team. And I loved all the chats; everyone was so friendly and fun that I just made DSP my home and that’s really what it is my “home away from home”. DSP - Do you have a favorite challenge here at DSP? Member – All the challenges are fun and offer something a little bit different. I really like the educational ones or the ones that make me move “outside my comfort zone”. But one of my first layouts was for Lauren’s Gimme More Crops challenge and I have been participating ever since. It’s really fun seeing the posting bonus come to life after offering ideas during the chat. DSP - What is your most "off the wall" layout? Member – One I made of my grandson that looks like he’s singing around the Christmas tree with lots of cartoonlike animals. It’s called All Together Now! DSP - Do you ever experience "scrappers block", and if so how do you overcome it? Member – I step back. I may go mow the yard, clean house (that does get neglected when I’m scrapping all the time), watch a movie, go get a latte and look at a scrapbooking magazine. Usually if I can’t get to the computer ideas start bouncing around in my head and I can’t wait to get back to get started. DSP - What is your favorite thing to scrap about? Member – I can’t say I have a favorite thing, because I have tons of pictures I have lots I can scrap, but the easiest would be my grandson because the pictures are so current and there are also better quality since they are taken with a digital camera. DSP - If you were a scrapbook element, what would you be? Member – I would love to be the background paper, because that means I am the base of the whole page, where it all starts, even though I am always in the background. Which is how it is in real life, I’m always behind the camera or behind the scenes making the day come together and of course I wouldn’t have it any other way. DSP - What part of the site do you spend the most time in, other than your gallery? Member – I go to the gallery to look at “new Layouts” a lot and then the New Posts in the forums. Then of course I can’t leave out the Shop! I’m always looking for the newest creations by the awesome designers here at DSP and I’m never disappointed. My cart or wish list always has something in it. DSP - What other hobbies or activities do you enjoy other than scrapping? Member – Yard work, cross-stitching, crocheting, watching and playing with my grandsons, and spending time with family. Oh, and since I travel with my job, sightseeing is at the top of my list. DSP - Is there anything else you would like to share with us? Member - I would just like to thank everyone here at DSP for all they do, members, designers, moderators, and team digital. Everyone shares so much. There are tutorials for everything you can imagine about digital scrapbooking, and if you want to learn how to do something you only have to ask! Digital scrapbooking has opened a whole new world to me and I feel like DSP was a very large part of that. Thanks for being our spotlight this month Susan! It was great to read more about you! ~Team Digital
